It's a uniquely body which combining of community and marketing development with co-operative as the legal basis to empower micro and small handicraft producers. 1987,  Apikri was founded by 19 handicraft micro-producers and 6 NGO's (non-government organization) activists who assisted them. Apikri stands for The Association of Indonesian People’s Handicraft Marketing. 1989, the abbreviation was changed to The Association of the Development of the Indonesian People's Handicraft. It's shown that the empowering  of micro-producers focus are not only in marketing.   1990,  Apikri's name was changed again to The Foundation for the Development of the Indonesian People's Handicraft Producers "Apikri". Apikri Foundation demonstrated significant increase in activities and progress. Marketing facilitation is held by Apikri, Inc.   2002, Apikri, Inc. improved to be Apikri Co-operative as a subsidiary of Apikri Foundation. Most of Participants of Apikri Foundation was the Members of Apikri Co-op.  2008, June, all Participants of Apikri Foundation and Members of Apikri Co-op agree to merge both of organizations to be unity organization and known just Apikri. Co-operative is chosen as a legal basis with two fileds concern, community development and marketing development. The Sovereignity Right             Apikri is opened organization. Now owned by 61 micro handicraft families, founders and all Management and Staff of Apikri office. Each micro handicraft producer owned by family bisnis could be a Participant before become a member of Apikri.                   The absolute authority is in the hands of Members through Members Meeting.    This institution ask an accountability of Management, elect and dismiss the Board and Directors (old/new) and also to formulate philosophy, basic rules and principles.    How to become Apikri's Participant          Must be a micro scale or middle to lower stage of small scale producer     Good motivation to grow her/his bisnis          Good personality         Care with another micro and middle to lower stage of small scale producer         Good commitment to fulfill Apikri's principles         Not depend on Apikri
