FORMULATING SUPPORT OF WORKING CONDITION FOR APIKRI PRODUCERS TO REACH FAIR TRADE 100
On February 2010, took a place at Apikri office Apikri held the meeting with producers to formulate the support of working condition for Apikri producers to reach FT 100. This meeting was as the follow up of efficiency and productivity, finance management training which was held in June and July 2009, the followed the survey in each workshop of producers in implementing the finance record as well as the workshop condition.
As the result of surveyed done by Apikri field staff during June – December 2009 for 40 producers seen that all producers still need the support for healthy and friendly working condition. However, based on the survey , mostly producers lack of production tools support. Yes, it was right because the production tools help the production process run fast with good quality. But, in this case the program was not for supporting the production tools, just focus on the support of equipment for friendly, healthy working condition and workshop layout.
At the opening, Mr. Lejar ( Apikri Board Head ) spoke about the friendly environment as one of fair trade principal. It is a must for suppliers to use the non toxin materials as an International Standard which need by buyers of fair trade, beside of course the friendly workshop condition.
At the second, Mr Amir explained about Apikri policy of fair trade 100 implementation. In this session Mr. Amir explained that Apikri as fair trade organization must implement fair trade principals, since this is the policy from WFTO to its member. FT 100 in line with Apikri vision namely voice of fair trade. Many benefits taken from fair trade among other things: increasing the economy life of producers, increasing skill of producers, school opportunity for children, and concern with other small micro enterprises, creating job opportunity, loyal workers. For the producers Apikri mainly give priority for marginalized producers. Amir also told about the challenge of AFTCTA which many products from China free enter Indonesia. By fair trade Mr.Amir convince to producers that we can face this competition.
At the end session Athis as the program coordinator leaded the discussion of formulating of working condition support for producers toward fair trade 100. As the result surveyed for 40 producers , mostly producers needed the production tools. But, in this project the support only for increasing workshop condition ( product store/rack, table, chair, lighting , finance administration books ), workshop lay out .
For this purpose, arranged the schedule as follows :
1. The need evaluation to increase the workshop condition, held at the first week of February
2. The propose of support needed by producers, held at the second week of February
3. The support needed run for workhop improvement held on the third week of February, will be held at third week of February
4. Evaluation will be held at fourth week of February
5. The report of improvement workshop result will be held on the first and second week of March.
6. Producer promotion towards fair trade implementation process, will be held at the third, fourth of February and the beginning of March.
