01-03-2010 | 03:07:36 VISIT OF MRS. KERRY EVANS ( SERRV – USA ) TO APIKRI. On 17,18, 19 February 2010 Kerry Evans from SERRV USA one of Apikri buyers which has cooperated with Apikri for many years visited to Apikri to have sample selection and producer visit . On 17 February Kerry had sample selection at Apikri office, followed with product development discussion with designers of Apikri and Marketing staff. Kerry share the trend for 2011 for spring and fall. This information is always benefits for Apikri to create the new product which marketable .  Besides that Keery also told about the cases of how the products samples not passed in the selection.  It was really important discussion for improving Apikri products both for design as well as the quality. On 18 February ,  Kerry Evans who is the Product Development Manager of SERRV was very happy to see Yogyakarta and producers condition after her visit on May 2006 after the earthquake attack. The producers condition who joined in the training of product development held by Apikri with the cooperation of SERRV USA have been renovated , all of good including the house and workshop. They are running their business again. Thanks for the support from Apikri partners who  send the fund for them ( SERRV USA, Ten Thousand Villages USA, Fair Trade Original- Netherland, AWEP Japan, Jamtown USA). Your fund was really helpful for them to recover their business.   There were 4 producers who visited by Kerry on 18 February who all joined the product development training that taught by Kerry in 2006. The producer who  visited by Kerry on 18 February  : Mr Ayat and Satiyo ( ceramic producer), John ( batik producer), Kompak ( silver group producer ), Junaedi ( painted wood producer ). Kerry had a lot interview with them about their business starting, what benefits got by producers after joining with Apikri.   While on 19 February 2010, Kerry visited the producers who got  New Purchasing Order : Mr. Suwardji who produced the coiling bamboo items, and Mr. Slamet who produced batik wood items. Both of them live in Gunung Kidul Regency. In Mr. Slamet area , Mr. Amir ( Apikri Director )  invited Kerry to visit the other batik wood items who are member of Apikri, namely  Mr. Tukiran who specialized in making batik masks and Mr. Kemiran who specialized in animal batik wood.  Kerry told to them to make new design with color trend which can be learnt at Apikri. Apikri designers plan to give them the new trend colour so that they can improved the products for getting good sale . People known well that  in this area ( Bubung, Gunung K idul ) is tourism area  so many people both local and foreign countries like to visit here to find out the batik wood products.  In this area also, Apikri had replanting program of sengon tree in 2005. Mr. Amir shown Kerry the growing of sengon trees which  as the replanting program of Apikri held in 2005.   In Mr Suwardji workshop, Kerry had an interview with Suwardji about the reasons of him to join with Apikri and also the benefits of joining with Apikri. At the rest time, Kerry used to learn the production process of coiling bamboo items. The same also in Mr. Slamet, Kerry also had an interview and learning the production process. When in the Mr. Slamet workshop, there were some senior high school student from curving handicraft who learned the curving work of wood . They enjoyed the curving wood learning in Slamet workshop.   As the expectation from all producers who visited by Kerry were getting order from SERRV USA for this year. Apikri also expect that this year , the order from SERRV USA will be increased to support the producers life.
