On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, two board members and two supervisors of Apikri paid a heartfelt visit to Wakhidussalam, a long-time leather craftsman, who recently suffered from a serious illness. The visit was a gesture of care and solidarity from Apikri, an organization that has long supported and collaborated with local artisans like Wakhidussalam.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by Wakhid’s family at their home in Sampangan, Bantul. Despite the recent health challenges, the atmosphere was filled with joy and gratitude. The family expressed their happiness at receiving the visitors, showing their appreciation through heartfelt hospitality.
Traditional snacks and drinks were served to the guests, creating a cozy and sincere setting for conversation. Laughter and warm exchanges filled the outdoor room as the family and Apikri representatives reminisced and shared stories. The visit became more than just a formal gesture; it was a genuine moment of human connection.
He accompanied by his wife, made an effort to meet the guests personally. Although he still appeared weak, he was able to sit and engage in the conversation with the help of his wife. His presence and smile were a relief and a source of encouragement for everyone present.
Apikri and the visitors expressed their hope for him full recovery. The visit not only lifted the spirits of the craftsman and his family but also reminded everyone of the importance of community support in times of need. Stay strong and get well soon, Pak Wakhid!
