On March 11, 2025, Apikri warmly received Deputy Director Joane from WFTO ASIA and Joli, a staff member from Longnan University Hong Kong, at their headquarters in Yogyakarta. The purpose of their visit to Apikri and Gumawang was to gain insights into Apikri's replanting program as part of a global climate change initiative starting from grassroots efforts.
Joane, who also serves as the project manager at Longnan University Hong Kong, expressed her enthusiasm about visiting Yogyakarta for the first time, having previously visited Bali the year before.
Accompanied by Apikri's board chairwoman, Ely as well as English interpreter, the guests were introduced to local entrepreneurs involved with Apikri, including Bayu, the owner of a woodworking business in Gumawang, and Kemiran, a batik artisan who recently joined Apikri as a supervisor.
During their visit, the WFTO ASIA guests were taken to see sengon, durian, and alpukan tree plantations at Bayu's farm. They engaged in extensive discussions regarding the replanting initiatives and exchanged ideas on sustainable practices.
Following this visit, there are potential plans for further collaboration. Longnan University Hong Kong expressed interest in sending their students for internships at Gumawang or Bobung, exploring opportunities for mutual learning and development.
