APIKRI is a fair trade organization that combines community development and market development for micro and small enterprises (UMK).
HISTORY OF APIKRIAPIKRI was established in June 1987. The initial capital used was IDR 180,000. The capital comes from the deposits of the Founders, which consist of 6 activists from Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and 19 micro crafters. This deposit signifies Apikri's cooperative spirit. At that time the agreed name was the People's Handicraft Industry Marketing Association. Abbreviated as APIKRI.
In 1989 there was a change in the name of APIKRI for the first time. Become the Association for the Development of the Indonesian People's Handicraft Industry. The short name is still APIKRI. The name change is a sign that APIKRI's attention to micro and small businesses is not just on marketing issues.
In 1990, the name APIKRI changed again for the second time as well as officially becoming a legal entity. Namely the Indonesian People's Handicraft Industry Development Foundation "APIKRI". Popularly called the APIKRI Foundation or APIKRI Foundation. Foundation legal entities were deliberately chosen so as not to get caught up in the subordination of power as was often the case at that time. This change makes it easier for APIKRI to optimize various potentials outside of itself. This year Apikri Foundation has equipped itself with a Marketing Facilitation Unit for Micro Enterprises called APIKRI, Inc. Which was marked by the inauguration of the Joint Marketing Place (TPB).
In 2000, APIKRI established a new office and showroom to organize community-development activities as well as export and local sales facilitation for families of micro-small craftsmen.
In 2002, APIKRI, Inc. formulated into a cooperative. His name is KSU APIKRI. Its members are all the Founders of APIKRI plus several implementing employees and other participating craftsmen who joined later. APIKRI continuously metamorphoses. What is very monumental is the reunification of community empowerment activities (APIKRI Foundation) and marketing facilitation (KSU APIKRI) into one legal entity and institutional spirit. Its name is still APIKRI, the legal entity is a cooperative. Foundation legal entities are declared inactive.
