Klaten has been known as a center for woodwork, and it is where Sofyan’s story began. Born in Klaten on May 18, 1980, to parents who worked as food vendors, Sofyan actually studied automotive skills at SMK Muhammadiyah Klaten. However, because he grew up in a neighborhood full of skilled craftsmen, he became familiar with the art of making wooden miniatures from a very young age.

During his school days, Sofyan used his free time to learn woodcraft from the artisans around his home. Thanks to his natural talent, he learned the skills very quickly. After graduating from high school, he decided to focus seriously on making wooden miniatures. Although he briefly worked a factory job, Sofyan felt that his true passion was in craftsmanship, so he decided to resign. He returned to the world of art and started working as an assistant at a workshop near his house to improve his skills.

By 2001, after getting married and saving enough money for his initial capital, Sofyan took a big step by opening his own home workshop called "Indrajaya." Committed to protecting the environment, he used high-quality wood scraps from furniture factories in various regions as his main material. This eco-friendly choice gave his wooden miniatures a special value in the market.

Sofyan makes many different types of products, ranging from traditional to modern vehicles. He creates miniatures of bicycles, sailboats, cars, motorcycles, trucks, trailers, and even cranes. In the beginning, Sofyan sold his creations to traditional craft centers in Klaten and nearby areas.

Over the years, Sofyan successfully expanded his business from local markets to the international stage. He started receiving many custom orders from island nations like the Maldives and Fiji. His most popular items were custom miniature sailboats and traditional vehicles. During this growth, APIKRI helped Sofyan by supporting his product development and introducing his crafts to international buyers.

Sofyan does not work by himself. With the help of six workers, his workshop can follow the international demand and make thousands of wooden miniatures every month. Through this successful business, Sofyan has been able to pay for the education of his four children. In fact, after graduating high school, his second child decided to follow in his footsteps and continue the family business. Beyond supporting his own family, Sofyan has also helped his community by employing local youths, giving them valuable work and keeping the spirit of craftsmanship alive.
