How to Make an Ecoprint on Fabric

Ecoprint motifs or fabric coloring techniques using natural materials are currently a fashion trend. The thing that makes ecoprints unique is the motifs are not the same as one another.

It turns out that the fabric coloring technique using the ecoprint method is very easy to do at home. Usually the natural ingredients used in the coloring process are those that are easily found at home or in your garden.

Tools and materials:

1. Fabrics with natural fibers such as cotton, silk or canvas

2. Leaves/flowers

3. Vinegar water

4. Alum water mixture

5. Peralon pipe

6. Rope

7. Pot for steaming

How to dye fabric with ecoprint technique:

1. Dip a plain cloth into a bucket filled with a mixture of water and vinegar.

2. After soaking, wring the cloth to reduce the water content.

3. Spread the cloth on a flat surface and then place some leaves or flowers or leaves on the cloth with a pattern or freely as desired.

4. When finished, place the paralon pipe at the bottom of the fabric then roll it slowly.

5. Tie the fabric with a rope to hold it in place so it doesn't come off after all the parts are rolled up.

6. Perform the fixation stage or boil the cloth in alum water for approximately 2 hours.

7. Untie the threads on the fabric and let it dry in the shade.

Cara Membuat Ecoprint Pada Kain

Motif ecoprint atau yang memanfaatkan bahan alami untuk pewarnaan kain kini menjadi salah satu trend. Hal yang membuat ecoprint unik ialah motifnya yang unik karena tidak akan sama satu dengan lainnya.

Ternyata teknik pewarnaan kain dengan cara ecoprint ini mudah sekali dilakukan di rumah. Biasanya bahan alami yang digunakan dalam proses pewarnaan ialah yang mudah ditemukan di rumah atau di kebun Anda.

Simak teknik pewarnaan ecoprint yang bisa dilakukan berikut ini:

Alat dan Bahan:

1. Kain dengan serat alami seperti katun, sutera, atau kanvas

2. Daun-daunan/ bunga

3. Air cuka

4. Campuran air tawas

5. Pipa peralon

6. Tali

7. Panci untuk mengukus

Cara mewarnai kain dengan teknik ecoprint:

1. Celupkan kain polos ke dalam ember yang sudah terisi campuran air dan cuka.

2. Setelah direndam, peras kain untuk mengurangi kadar airnya.

3. Bentangkan kain di permukaan yang datar lalu letakkan beberapa helai daun atau bunga atau daun di atas kain dengan pola atau bebas sesuai keinginan.

4. Setelah selesai, tempatkan pipa paralon dibagian bawah kain kemudian gulung secara perlahan.

5. Ikat kain dengan tali untuk menahan posisinya agar tidak terlepas usai semua bagian tergulung.

6. Lakukan tahap fiksasi atau merebus kain di dalam air tawas selama kurang lebih 2 jam.

7. Lepaskan ikatan benang yang terdapat pada kain dan angin-anginkan di tempat teduh.
