On July 10th, 2026, Apikri was delighted to welcome a visit from its long-standing partner, AWEP Japan. Representing the organization was Waka Hamada, an AWEP volunteer who is currently serving as an intern at a senior high school in Salatiga, Indonesia. The visit reflects the enduring relationship between AWEP Japan and Apikri, which has been built on shared values of fair trade and community development.

Waka Hamada was warmly received by four members of Apikri's board and management team. During the meeting, both sides discussed Apikri's ongoing commitment to implementing Fair Trade principles, including supporting local artisans, promoting ethical business practices, and ensuring sustainable livelihoods for craft producers. The visit also provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences on strengthening the impact of fair trade in Indonesia.

In addition to reviewing Apikri's Fair Trade initiatives, the discussion explored opportunities for future cooperation in expanding the market for Apikri's handicrafts in Japan. Apikri hopes that this visit will further strengthen its long-term partnership with AWEP Japan and open new opportunities for promoting Indonesian handcrafted products while creating greater benefits for artisan communities through fair and sustainable trade.
